 Operation Iraqi Freedom

USJJF/Police Action League, Fountain, Colorado

On February 2, 2005, the United States Ju-Jitsu Federation (USJJF) in conjunction with the Fountain Police, Fountain, Colorado, Chapter of the Fountain Athletic/Activities League and the Fountain Valley Martial Arts Club implemented the Traditional Kodokan Judo (TKJ) and US JU-JITSU (USJJ) programs of the USJJF for the Fountain P.A.L. Chapter. A total of twenty-six children ages ranging from 5-12 years of age signed up with many more on a waiting list. Due to limited space we have had to limit each class to 13 Students and split the class in half. We are hoping to expand the program in the near future. Meanwhile we are in need of funds to purchase equipment such as protective gear and mats.

Using the TKJ and USJJ Curriculum gives us a building block approach, which produces a simple method of teaching that is both safe and fun. TKJ teaches our youth respect for others and self-respect for themselves. In addition to building self-esteem the curriculum develops sound mind and body along with teaching self-discipline. We hope to produce a model for other USJJF clubs and PAL chapters to join together and work to improve the lives of our youth.
