Shihan Bernard Gilbert, USJJF East Coast Regional Director, recently hosted a "Gathering" of Ju-Jitsu Leaders in Columbia Maryland. This Gathering included a USJJ of Maryland Organizational Meeting, Traditional Ju-Jitsu Training, Competition Orientation and a Referee Course. Leaders from several local and regional martial art clubs attended the event, which was led by Shihan Bruce R. Bethers, President of USJJF. Several Key Leaders included Shihan Bill Cooley (the new Iowa USJJF State Representative), Sensei David Bish (Red Dragon Ju-jitsu Club), Sensei Queyen Li (Kuk Ki Tae Kwon Do Academy), Col Robert Maldonado
(Black Dragon Budo Club and Washington D.C. USJJF Representative). |

The two day event was a Great Success! Everyone that attended the "Gathering and Training" completed the weekend with a strong sense of accomplishment establishing the new Regional Ju-Jitsu Organization and the individual knowledge and skills acquired! Several new State and Regional Class Referees were certified on this weekend. With the US JU-JITSU National Championships and North American Continental Championships only a few weeks away, this referee training was very timely.
The Hospitality of Shihan Bernard "Gil" Gilbert was Outstanding as always! During the "breaks" for Lunch, Gil arranged for traditional
Japanese cuisine at a local Maryland Japanese restaurant! (The food and service was Great!)
During this meeting Shihan Bill Cooley announced that he has retired from the US Govt. Civil Service and has moved to Iowa where he will continue to "Spread the Word" about the USJJF and its members' many services and programs! |
|
On behalf of the Federation, Shihan Bethers expressed his Great Appreciation for Bill's Outstanding Support and Leadership to the USJJF.
Another Great USJJF "Gathering"! Please visit our
