David Hook's passion for studying Judo and Ju-Jitsu began in 1997. He started training under Master Billy L. Sharp, 7th Dan, at his home dojo Sharp Judo and Jujitsu. He achieved the rank of green belt (Yonkyu) in Ju-Jitsu before leaving to attend college.
In 1998, David moved to Stillwater, OK, to complete his bachelor’s degree in Management Information Systems at Oklahoma State University. While he was there, David practiced martial arts with the OSU Judo Club for about a year. After graduating, David got married and took a break from Martial Arts to start a career and have children.
In 2020, David and his kids began training Judo at Stickley Judo in Arcadia, OK, under Don Stickley, 3rd Dan. He achieved the rank of brown belt (Sankyu) in 2023 before pausing his Judo studies to focus on Ju-Jitsu.
In October of 2021, David reached out to Dr. Randall Schubert because he had Master Billy L Sharp’s photo on his Facebook site. He was looking for a dojo that taught the same style of Ju-Jitsu that he had learned at Sharp Judo and Jujitsu. David has been training under Dr. Schubert, 5th Dan, at ARMA Defense Ju-Jitsu since then..
