Shihan Jeff Hudson currently resides in Glendale, Ohio (northern Cincinnati) with his wife, Susan. Since 1996 he has run the Hudson Center for the Martial Arts (located within the Harry Whiting Brown Community Center) where he teaches karate and fencing. In 1980, as a freshman at the University of Akron, he began his Kwanmukan training under Hanshi Anderson in the wrestling room of Memorial Hall. His tenure in the Kwanmukan Hombu on Kenmore Boulevard started in 1985, after a short time in the US Air Force, and lasted until 1996 when a job offer at Wright-Patterson AFB took him to southwest Ohio.
To date, he still works in the same Air Force Anthropometry Lab as its Chief Scientist. His work includes ensuring the safety and mission effectiveness of our pilots and aircrew through cockpit and workstation accommodation and proper design and fit of protective gear. After completing his B.S. in Geophysics at the University of Akron (1984), his education continued at Kent State University where he received an M.A. in Anthropology in 1991, and then a Ph.D. in Biological Anthropology in 2002.
From 1995 onward Dr. Hudson has been an avid competition fencer. His most notable fencing accomplishment is making the U.S. World Veteran Epee Team in 2014 and competing in the World Championships in Hungary, earning 16th of 83. He loves to learn and train and continues his advancement in martial arts under the Kwanmukan umbrella.

Shihan Hudson has been consistently fencing in the North American Cup (NAC) tournaments since 2014, which happens to be the year of my best results. There are three NAC tournaments per year that fencers accumulate rolling points to determine national ranking (they drop the lowest tournament result of the three). After the last tournament of the year (the National Championships in July) the top 4 ranks are awarded US team berths, while 5-8 are designated team alternates. He has placed in the top 12 or better every year. In 2014, he won a 3rd place and a 2cd place finish in Veteran 50 (50-59 year olds) which put me in 1st place on the national ranking rolling points list and gave me the chance to compete on the US team at the veteran world championships in Debrecen, Hungary. There, he finished 16th in a field of 83. To get into the round of 16, he had to knock out a former two-time world champion, Peter Barvestad of Sweden. In the round of 16, he was knocked out by my team mate, Walt Dragonetti. In the tables below, my rolling points results in Veteran 50 by year (since 2014) are listed, as well as my top finishes in national level tournaments (photo of medals). The number of national competitors trying to make the team in Veteran 50 was approximately 120.
SENTIR LABS (STI-TEC) (May 2019- present):
Professionally - Dr. Hudson is a Biological Anthropologist, Chief Scientist assigned to support service contracts with the Airmen Accommodation Lab (AFLCMC/ROU), as the Lab Chief Scientist and Subject Matter Expert.
