The March 9, 2019 celebration of Hanshi George Anderson and the Hall of Fame ceremony was very well done.
Dad believed in the men and women who accompanied him on his martial arts’ journey. He spoke of each of you, in glowing terms, and with the utmost respect. You each meant as much to Dad as he did to you. As I said in my speech, if Dad were here, he’d attribute his success to his students. One knows a martial arts master not only by his skills as a martial artist but also by the students who flock to him and their individual and collective success.
Dad would have greatly enjoyed the March 9, 2019 celebration. If still alive, at an occasion like this, Dad would have lectured on progress in the martial arts. Dad tied long term progress (individual and collective) to leaders working together for a common goal. In his will, Dad urged his blackbelts not to argue with one and other but to work together to advance their students and the martial arts in the U.S. and the world. To the goodwill and mutual respect evident on March 9th, Dad would have said: “Well done!”
On behalf of my Mother and the entire Anderson family, I thank each organizer and attendee for remembering my father Hanshi George Anderson. It was a great evening for each of us.
Best regards -- David Anderson
