Dr. Brian Walsh has been practicing martial arts for over 45 years and holds black belts in; US Ju-Jitsu 7th Dan, Aikido & Aiki-Jitsu 6th Degree, USA Jiu-Jitsu 6th Degree, Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu 6th Degree, Traditional Kodokan Judo 4th degree, Ko-Sutemi Seieikan Jujutsu 3rd degree, Kyokushinkai Karate/Kenpo 1st degree, Muay Thai Kickboxing (cardio) 1st degree, Police Self Defense Instructor (PSDI) – certified.
He started martial arts as a child, learning North American Indian / First Nations style of fighting along with Gaelic bare-knuckle fighting, from family around age 5. La Savate-Boxe Française also from family who had been loggers in Canada. His formal martial arts training began with Jiu-Jitsu, Judo, Karate and Jukado with Catch wrestling by age 10 and European Fencing at age 12 including both sport and historical weapons.
Dr. Walsh started full contact sparring and fighting with USA Boxing around the age of 16, as well as kickboxing. He also started training in Yoseikan Aikido and Aiki-jitsu at this time. By the age of 18 he was competing in Ju-Jitsu fighting, NHB, Vale Tudo type fighting, with over 50 NHB fights.
During his college years while studying Cognitive Neuro-Science he competed Internationally becoming the IJJF International World Cup Champion. Multiple US Open International Champion, and USJJF National Champion. He competed in many Regional Championships.
Dr. Walsh served as a civilian private contractor, security for several years, before starting his work in the medical field. He as also ordained into the ministry in 1993. He continues his ministerial work to this time.
He is very proud to be able to work with many outstanding youths and young people. He has coached multiple Olympic, World & International Champions and Medal placers in Jiu-Jitsu, Ju-Jitsu Fighting and Judo. He has worked with multiple Professional & Amateur athletes in Mix Martial Arts, in UFC, Bellator, World Series of Fight, NAAFS, Honor, among many other.
Dr. Walsh has also coached multiple National Sombo Champions and Medal placers as well as multiple National, Regional & State Wrestling Champions and Medal placers in Greco-Roman, Freestyle, Collegiate and Folk style wrestling. Also, multiple National & State Champions and Medal placers in Military Combative, Grappling, Ju-Jitsu kumite & Randori, Combo, Sandan, Freestyle fighting.
Dr. Walsh attended Medical school in Asia and was fortunate to train martial arts in many sites in Asia. He also has three doctoral degrees including his Ph.D and Doctor of Divinity.
In addition, he has helped write the Rank requirements for USA Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu & USA Grappling No-Gi Jiu-Jitsu, as well as the competition rules for USJJF and International events. Referee for many large International, National, Regional and local tournaments for multiple organization. Former USA-Wrestling-Ohio Director of Grappling.
On February 4th 2023, Dr. Walsh was promoted to 7th Degree - Coral Belt in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu by GM Ricardo Murgel in the Union World Organization.
