ABOUT ROKU JUTSU
Roku Jutsu™ was developed by Chris Harris in 1993 to be an efficient combatives system that was well suited for the military and special forces. In Japanese, the word Roku means “six” and the word Jutsu means “method.” Harris has trained in numerous styles, extracting only the most practical and useful techniques from each system. To be adopted, each technique had to be practical in its use, simple to perform, and highly effective. Roku Jutsu contains six belts of rank, with each belt containing 10 techniques (60 total).
Below are the six styles (methods) that had the greatest impact on Roku Jutsu, accompanied by the top four movements and principles that were adopted from each.
SHORIN RYU: Self-discipline / Breathing / Respect / Power
AIKIDO: Joint Manipulation / Harmony / Energy / Flow
BOXING: Hand Speed / Footwork / Accuracy / Stealth
MUAY THAI: Toughness / Forearms / Elbows / Knees
TAE KWON DO: Distance / Blocks / Kicks / Hips
KUNG FU: Balance / Fluidity / Speed / Grace
