Daniel Sammons grew up as a young child obsessed with martial arts. One of his favorite movies was The Karate Kid. Martial arts came in his life at a crucial moment. At school he was bullied, had low self-confidence, and was always in "his shell". Once he started at Spivey Karate, his life started to change fast. Karate also helped him become comfortable and gain courage with band. He played the trombone middle through high school.
He was able to be awarded the John Sousa Philip award for band in which only one senior recieves. This is partialy due to the attributes and courage he gained through martial arts. He came from a line of Black Belts. All of his aunts and uncles including his mom are all first degree Black Belts in American Open Style Karate. His dad also made it to 3rd degree Black Belt. From a young age he excelled in Karate, winning Grand Champion at tournaments.
Daniel obtained his 1st degree Black Belt in Karate within his first 5 years of training. As he started to get older, his love for martial arts grew. This lead to Daniel taking and earning a 1st degree Black Belt in traditional Chito-Ryu, and weapons. This also lead to his next step in his martial arts carrier, Jiu-Jitsu. The passion he started to gain for learning new things lead to him choosing to start a career path as an electrition. After recieving his 1st degree black-belt in Jiu-Jitsu, his dad began to take over the class with him. Eventually his dad had to stop, just leaving Daniel to carry on the legacy. At the same time, he began to take Karate competition more seriously.
Daniel was eventually able to have the honor of competing against the best of the best on a world stage at the US Open. It is through this experience, that he was able make friends with a fellow competitor. Upon this friendship Daniel's competitor invited him to fly up and train in his style for a week. This lead to him lerning a new art, Taekwondo. After learning for some time Daniel was able to earn a 3rd degree Black Belt in Taekwondo. Shortly after, he then earned his 5th degree Black Belt in Karate.
After accomplishing his electrical liscense, he began to realize his passion for teaching, which lead to his current job teaching electrical at Pasco High School while teaching Jiu-Jitsu on the side. Daniel still aspires to push himself, advance, and be the best he can be each martial art he has learned. This is why martial arts is so amazing. Not only can martial arts open many doors, martial arts has the ability to inspire, give purpose and improve ones character in so many ways. Martial arts has an amazing ability to move mountains for those willing to learn its ways!
