Daniel Edward Lane (Danny) was born January 3, 1949 in Huntington West Virginia. His first taste of martial arts was hand to hand combat in the Marine Corps boot camp. He went to Vietnam as an infantryman and fought numerous battles against the NVA and Viet Cong. He was wounded in combat and as a result of his Valor, awarded two Purple Hearts, the Marine Combat Action Medal and numerous other commendations.
Danny became a police officer in early 1970 where he was taught Ju-Jitsu in the State Police Academy. He later met Korean Master Sok Ho Kang In 1971 and studied Tae Kwon Do for seven years obtaining a 3rd Degree Black Belt and running three studios under Master Kang.
In 1975 he won the U.S. Open Tae Kwon Do & Karate Championships Grand Championship and 1975 World Lightweight Kickboxing Championship. He repeated as Grand Champion in the 1976-77 U.S Open Tae Kwon Do and Karate Championships.
Danny turned full time to Professional Kickboxing in 1976- 1978 and became rated in the top 10 in the lightweight division with the PKA with a 10-0 record. All the time while being a homicide detective.
He met and began training with Chuck Norris in 1980 and became part of his UFAF Chuck Norris System. Danny began a Regional Director and Board Member as well as National Training Instructor for standards in the 80’s and 90’s. Danny won 9 of the UFAF Chuck Norris World Tournaments in the Senior Division in Forms, Weapons and Fighting. Continuing to compete he won the 1994 NAKC (North American Karate Counsel) Seniors Forms and Fighting Championships and the 1994 USA Ju-Jitsu Sport Championships Seniors Division.
He produced the Champion Karate Video Series endorsed by Chuck Norris that were the standards for the Chuck Norris System at that time. He went on to produce four other video training series that are on the market. The Hidden Secrets of Tae Know Do, War Zone Police & Military Tactics, Spy Combat Tactics with CIA Agent Jason Hanson and most recently the Danny Lane Fighting System.
Besides training in Tang Soo Do, Tae Kwon Do and the Chuck Norris System, Danny continued his studies in other arts over the years. He has been awarded a 7th Dan by the International Federation of Ju-Jitsuans, 7th Dan by the United States Judo Association, 2nd Dan in Nihon Goshen Aikido, 7th Dan in Tae Kwon Do by the United States Martial Arts Federation and holds a 3rd Dan in Tang Soo Do - Moo Duk Kwan. Danny Lane has been awarded an 8th Dan in US Ju-Jitsu and US Taiho Jutsu by the United States Ju-Jitsu Federation.
He has been inducted by his peers 12 times into various Martial Arts Hall of Fames. He is an honored member of the World, International Karate, International Kickboxing, National, U.S.A. Hall, Action Martial Arts Magazine and Florida Hall of Fame.
He is a retired police officer and he developed the first defensive tactics program for the Huntington WV police department. He taught the Secret Service handgun disarms at their training facilities in Bethesda MD.
