Sensei Delgado started Judo at age 7 in the famous Monaco Judo Club, in La Vibora, City of Havana. Among his instructors were Master Verde and Master Cuspinera Navarro, until chosen to enter EIDE Makarenko also known as Special Initiation School of Sport, where he continued Judo practice under Sensei Angel. In 1974, when he was 11, and while attending EIDE, the Sports School, started Karate and Jujitsu during weekends, under Sensei Ramón Rodríguez.
Between 1977 –1977 attended as often as he could to Joshinmon Karate practices at Marti and Fajardo Dojos, and later assisted to the national karate school for former training and examinations. Between 1981- 1988 Delgado was separated from the National Karate School and banned to test for Karate or judo rank due to political conflicts. He remained training privately and occasionally with Sensei Peron in Fajardo Dojo. But around that time he did focus more in Judo and Goshin Jujitsu training. After a new opening for karate and judo training in Cuba, Delgado was commissioned by the Cuban Federation of Martial Arts to open and operate a new Dojo in the Town of Managua, in the outskirt of Havana, where he was chief instructor until 1991 when he left the country.
In USA he restarted Jyoshinmon Karate training with Kyoshi Felix Puga and also Goshin Jujitsu with his old time master Ramon Rodriguez while, very often attended Judo training with friends in their respective dojos: Baragua Judo Club and Kolechkyni Judo Foundation, among others.
In 1994 he opened Jyoshinkan Dojo, in Homestead, Florida in 1994, where it remained for almost three years. While an active member of AAU Karate and National Karate Federation programs, as competitor and coach, Delgado was, in 1995 selected to participate in the World Jyoshinmon Cup, in Russia, as a USA team member. He represented the USA colors again in 2004 at the Jyoshinmon Shorin Ryu Karate World championship held in Miami, USA.
In 2005, after some training in Japan, Delgado obtained, from Grand Master Ikeda, founder of Jyoshinmon style, a direct license to open a true descendant branch of Jyoshinmon Shorin Ryu Karate Dojo in USA. Upon his return, Delgado reopened Jyoshinkan Dojo in Hialeah and included Judo and Jujitsu in its martial arts Program. Delgado has participated in many local, State, Regional and Nationals Tournaments, as an athlete and as Judge or couch for his students, and other federation members. He was the first Jyoshinmon athlete to obtain a gold medal in Kobudo (weapons art) at a national competition in USA. He has participated and instructed in many karate, Kobudo, Judo and Jujitsu seminars in Cuba, Japan, Russia, USA, Puerto Rico and Ecuador, where he was hired to train a Special Metropolitan Police team in Guayaquil for several month. Jyoshinmon “operative karate” and Goshin Ryu Jujitsu techniques was vital in the officers’ closed combat training.
