Sensei Juan Francisco Avila was born on July 21, 1973, in Las Palmas de Gran Canarias. His first contact with martial arts was at the age of 4. His father signed me up for one of the best judo clubs on the island, “Hermanos Coruña”.
Later, at the age of 16 years old, he started practicing jiu jitsu for the Spanish Judo Federation, reaching 2 Dan. In these years he became very interested in the reading and history of feudal Japan. In 1999 Sensei Avila also began to practice Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, with the pioneer of this sport in the Canary Islands, later practicing and studying with various teachers from Brazil until approximately 2015.
Sensei Avila continued practicing Judo and Jiu Jitsu until he was 40 years old. At that time he began to practice Shorinji Kempo by several teachers and with the pioneer of this one in the Canary Islands, a Japanese man living on the island, obtaining the 1st dan.
Brazilian Jitsu at Gracie Barra's Dojo, where he taught for a year, continuing to All the Judo of which he already holds the grade of 4th Dan in Kano Ryu, Sensei Avila also holds the 3rd Dan from Taiho Jitsu. He also holds 1st Dan in Aiki Jujutsu. Sensei Avila is a co-author of the Book - Newaza and the Book - Katame Waza Ura no Kata.
