Monye Tucker was born in Jacksonville Florida July 26, 1995 where he spent half of of his time living with his grandparents. His Grandfather who is a 4th degree Black Belt in Wing Chun began training Monye in 1999 at the age of 4 years old. This was the the craft that started Monye’s journey into Martial Arts. At the age of 5 years old he started practicing Shotokan earning his yellow belt before moving from Jacksonville, Florida.
In 2007 his family moved to Locust Grove, Georgia where he picked up in Martial Arts and started learning wrestling as a new craft. He has a decorated wrestling background by becoming a 2x All American Wrestler, National Finalist, a 2x state qualifier, South Metro Champion and a county champion in the years of 2007-2013. From the end of his school year until the beginning of 2014 Monye transitioned into Mixed Martial Arts at: Independent MMA & Fitness.
In 2014 Monye enlisted into the United States Army as a Military Police where he served for 8 years earning the rank of sergeant and position as a Squad leader. In his Military career he made the combatives team learning jiu jitsu and judo to sharpen his technique. In 2015 Monye met Shidoshi Thorne who is the founder of Pan-American Goju Ryu. He studied under Shidoshi Thorne from 2015-2017 earning the rank of Shodan in Pan American Goju Ryu and Aikujitsu.
He competed in his first black belt sparring championship as a brown belt and came out with a first place finish. He then took up boxing when he wasn’t training in Martial Arts to sharpen his hand speed and techniques. Shortly after he was scheduled to deploy to the Republic of South Korea for a 9 month rotation. He then studied Taekwondo under Grandmaster Kim in Dongducheon, South Korea. He earned the rank of Shodan and went on to compete in the Taekwondo Championships representing his school and the U.S. in the peninsula championships.
Redeploying back to the states in the end of 2018 he continued training at his home school of TKO in Hinesville, Ga as well as Jiu Jitsu at 912 Gracie and boxing. In the middle of 2019 he competed in Kissimmee, Florida for a state wrestling championships where he had a 4th place finish in the Masters Division. Upon his return he was appointed to be a combatives instructor for his Military Police Battalion and became a Non Lethal Weapons Instructor certifying over 20 soldiers.
In the year of 2020, Monye flew to California for his first World Martial Arts Championship only competing in the continuous sparring division. After his first place finish his teammates recommended him to the United States Martial Arts hall of fame. He was chosen to be the “Competitor of the Year”. In the year Monye gained great sponsorships in Martial Arts from GoPro and SkullCandy which he is still currently sponsored by. In 2021 he redeployed to South Korea furthering his boxing training for the 2022 World Championships in Orlando, Florida.
In 2022 he had completed his Army contract and competed at the ISKA World Martial Arts Championships finishing 8th place. Monye is a husband and a father of 3 children to Nini Maldonado who has been a huge supporter in his Martial Arts journey.
