Oscar Sanchez

In 1988 he took his first class in Taekwondo at the Lewisville, TX YMCA. He graduated from Marcus Highschool in 1990 and continued Taekwondo. He graduated from the University of North Texas with a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science in 1998 and got hired at IBM the same year.
At UNT, he trained with a variety of martial artists and competed in several tournaments. Here he started to learn Pekiti Tirsa Kali and Brazilian Jiu Jitsu up 4th white belt. He started Judo at Denton Judo Optimist Club his mid 30’s. He has competed in modest number of local Judo tournaments.
He earned his san kyu brown belt in 2013, ni kyu in 2018, Ikkyu in 2020, and learned Nage-no-kata in the following years. In the following years he also returned to Brazilian Jiu Jitsu and earned a blue belt in 2022.
Oscar also continued to study Pekiti Tirsa Kali stick and knife work as well as empty hand. Currently, he has carried on with combatives in the Goshi JiuJitsu system under Barry Howell Senei. In recent years he has also began to learn Western martial arts with a focus on German and Italian longsword.
He wants to grow in personal knowledge of Heike-Ryu Jiu Jitsu as well as expand the art in Denton Texas.
