Pavel Antonsson Shihan, born 1967, in Gothenburg, Sweden. Married, one daughter.
Antonsson grew up in a Swedish wrestling family, but chosed to follow the Eastern path.
Pavel Antonsson has trained Budō and Martial Arts since 1981. Before that it was a test period with our western arts, boxing and fencing. He has been an active instructor since 1984.
Antonsson started in 1981 with Ju Jutsu and then supplemented his training with Judo and Taekwondo. During periods, there has also been a lot of karate training in various forms and traditional weapon training (Iaijutsu & Kenjutsu). The interest in martial arts has always been broad! He has always been something of an omnivore.
In 1987 he co-founded Dokan Dojo (Honbu Dojo), which over the years has developed into a today complete Budo academy with in addition to Ju Jutsu & Sports Ju Jutsu has sections for: Self Protection-Goshin Jutsu-Taiho Jutsu, traditional Kodokan Judo, Karate Jutsu & Knockdown, Jidokwan Taekwondo, Toyama Ryu Morinaga-ha Iaijutsu and Kobujutsu (Iaijutsu & Kenjutsu).
In 2000, he founded Dokan Ryu Ju Jutsu and Budō Concepts, a style that in addition to a dynamic self-defense has a strong focus on Fighting & Sport Ju Jutsu, both point fighting and full-contact. Dokan Ryu is a complete style and has been classified by several different international and Japanese federations such as Nihon Ju Jutsu, Tai Jutsu, Sport Ju Jutsu, Nihon Goshin Jutsu and Karate Jutsu.
Pavel Antonsson is today Chief Instructor & Kancho for Dokan Ryu Ju Jutsu & Budo Concepts.
Prior to his medical studies, he worked as a security guard, a background that has shaped his view of Self Protection and self-defense. When he iis not up on the tatami, he works as an orthopedic surgeon, specialized in Pediatric Orthopedics and Limb Reconstruction. He occasionally teaches on the subject ”Sports Injuries”, at various instructor courses.
Antonsson Shihan is today graded to Okuden 7 Dan Kyoshi Nihon Ju Jutsu & Goshin Jutsu, Mokuroku Renshi Kobudo Institute of Japanology, 4 Dan Taiho Jutsu, 4 Dan Master Jidokwan & Kukkiwon Taekwondo, 3 Dan Kodokan Judo, Shodan Toyama Ryu Morinaga Ha Iaijutsu.
He also holds Black Belt Degrees and various menkyo certificates in Karate Jutsu, Karate Do and Taijutsu.
He has been a lifetime member of International Traditional Kodokan Judo and MAIF since 2009.
Antonsson Shihan has been appointed to Sweden So Shibucho (branch chief) for both Kokusai Nihon Budo Kyoshujo and Dai Nihon Dento Morinaga Toyama Ryu Sweden.
He is also Swedish Elite Instructor and Technical Director of Ju Jutsu & Sport Ju Jutsu for IMAF Sweden.
Last year, Antonsson finished writing his book "Dokan Ryu Ju Jutsu & Budo Densho", after a few years of work.
