Dr. Schubert has over 45 Years Experience in the Martial Arts.
Dr. Schubert is a chiropractic physician and neurodiagnostic specialist in Oklahoma City, Ok and has been in active practice for over 25 years.

BIOGRAPHY OF MARTIAL ARTS TRAINING
Dr. Schubert began at the age of 14 as a junior-high and highschool wrestler. In his sophomore year of highschool (1974), he began training in Korean karate (Tangsoo-do and Taekwondo) under GM Saejin "Jack" Hwang and GM Jun B. Kim.

He attained the rank of purple belt before transitioning in 1976 to training in Okinawan Shorin-ryu (Kobayashi Shorin-ryu style) under Glenn Robago, who's teacher was GM Tadashi Yamashita. He attained the rank of 2nd Kyu Brown Belt under Mr. Rabago.

Mr. Rabago moved to Hawaii in 1979, and Dr. Schubert returned to training in Taekwondo / American Sport Karate and Kickboxing under instructors Bill Cagle, Tommy Williams and Jim Butin. He earned black belts under Mr. Cagle (1980) and Master Butin (1990).

During this time, Dr. Schubert was a karate competition tournament fighter, ranked as a top-ten competitor in the Oklahoma Sport Karate Assn.

In 1984, after returning from college, Dr. Schubert also began training in Okinawan/ Japanese Shotokan and Kyokushinkai karate under Master Denny Holzbaubaer and the American Bushido-Kai Karate Assn. (ABKA). He became an instructor for ABKA in 1986 after earning his Shodan ranking there. He earned his Nidan ranking in 1990. During this time he also worked as a hotel security officer and bar bouncer (1987-1990) as well as teaching classes for Master Holzbauer and Master Butin.

In 1993 Dr. Schubert entered chiropractic college in Dallas, TX , and continued his training with various schools in the DFW area. Upon graduation in 1998 he returned home to Oklahoma City and opened his chiropractic practice, as well as returning to teaching for ABKA.

He also returned to competing in karate competitions, and in 2006 won the ABKA Karate Championships for Kumite and Weapons Competition.

In 2009, a fellow training partner introduced Dr. Schubert to Master Billy L. Sharp, 7th Dan Judo/ Kodokan Goshin-jujitsu and Senior Examiner for the United States Jujitsu Federation (USJJF). Upon meeting Master Sharp, Dr. Schubert became inspired to add classical judo/ jujitsu to his training curriculum, and it wasn't long before he was training exclusively with Master Sharp in his home, two days per week for 8 years, until Master Sharp passed away in 2016.

Dr. Schubert attained the rank of 4th Dan under Master Sharp and Master Bruce R. Bethers (9th Dan, President of United States Jujitsu Federation), and since his master's passing has continued teaching Master Sharp's Kodokan Goshin-jujitsu system to his own small group in his own home dojo, which he named ARMA DEFENSE JUJITSU.

Dr. Schubert formed his home dojo group of former students of Master Sharp as well as a handful of law enforcement officers, including Ofc. William S. Cook, 3rd Dan, founder of Shadow Guardian Tactical, LLC, which offers specialized training in security, firearms tactics and law enforcement tactics.

In ARMA (for Assault Response Methods and Arms), Dr. Schubert and Sensei Cook combine their years of training in both karate and jujitsu along with the tactical firearms and defense tactics of Sensei Cook/ Shadow Guardian Tactical into a practical and comprehensive self-defense system for personal defense and law enforcement tactics (Taiho-jutsu).

Dr. Schubert has continued to serve as a Kodokan Goshin-jujitsu instructor in Oklahoma, under Master Sharp's nephew, Master William S. Sharp, 7th Dan, who continues to represent the Sharp Jujitsu / Kodokan Goshin-jujitsu system as it's head instructor. He serves as a Nationally-ranked / Certified Ju-Jitsu Sensei and Senior Instructor-Examiner for the United States Jujitsu Federation (USJJF). In 2019, Dr. Schubert was inducted into the USJJF Ju-Jitsu Hall of Fame as a Ju-Jitsu sensei.

In 2021, he was promoted to the rank of 5th Dan (Kodokan Goshin-Jujitsu and US Taiho-Jutsu) by Masters William S. Sharp and Bruce R. Bethers of the USJJF. He continues teaching his small home dojo group and serving as a USJJF instructor and Senior Examiner under Master Bethers.
